Before Liu went to America, he told himself that he would not speak Chinese. However, he changed his mind after living an American family. That means when you live off your hometown, you need to be with other people who comes from the same country. These people can be your supported nomatter if you know them.
I have the same experience as Liu's. Last year is my first time to America. I feel afraid because the people around me said the different language and everywhere is strange for me. At that time, I want to stay with Chinese because I can ask them whatever I do not know. And stay with them I could feel that they are my family, I can feel free.
In my mind, stay with Chinese does not mean that I will not get along well with American. Staying with Chinese, I can learn from them how to make friend with American, how to get along with them. Also I can learn how to adapt the life in America. All these things are important to me. Therefore, I think it is helpful to stay with Chinese.
